One of our core values at Quinn Infrastructure is ‘Accountability’ and with this, we continually strive to commit to our environmental aims and objectives we set. When we found out about the ‘The National Hard Hat Recycling Scheme’ we were delighted to get on board and become active members.

The scheme aims to change the current process of disposal by diverting hard hats into a dedicated waste processing facility, thereby ensuring all hat waste is fully recycled. As registered members, we can send our hard hats directly into a dedicated hard hat recycling facility where they will be destroyed, with all of the plastic being fully recovered and made back into “new” plastic pellets. These pellets are then sent back in to UK manufacturing as a raw material. In this way, all hard hats are fully recycled right here in the UK.

Alex Murphy, Head of Compliance said, ‘We are extremely proud to display the logo on the hard hat to publicise the QIS commitment to the scheme and to act as a reminder to staff to recycle rather than dispose of. Small acts such as these means we as a considerate contractor have peace of mind that our waste material are being fully recovered, responsibly, and won’t be ending up being in landfill.’
